Business
Resources I use
As a woman in my late ‘60s restarting a business, I’m sharing here the services I use to make life easier and more efficient. I don’t use social media (except to read about family, scuba diving, and preserving democracy. Little things like that). But even still, I need technology, and limit my use to the essentials.
• Calendly
I love automation . . . And here I can schedule my availability and set up registration for small group meetings such as Practice Circles. Payments can be made from Calendly for some events (with Stripe in the background managing this piece of the puzzle). It easily links to Zoom, so that eliminates many steps on my end that would otherwise be done manually. It can send out reminders, and scheduled appointments automatically get added to my online calendar. Essentially Calendly, when I invest the time to set it up correctly, gives me buckets of efficiency.
• Flodesk*
I’m fairly new to Flodesk, so I have little to report. I was looking for a way to send out easy and pretty emails, and this is what I believe will do that well.
• Go Daddy
I bought (leased?) my web name and email addresses through Go Daddy. So . . . I bought AgeBuoyantly.com then used that for my website on Squarespace. I know, it’s all confusing . . . believe me I know!
• Off the Grid
Amelia Hruby’s podcast and resources support business owners migrating away from social media. Since leaving Instagram and mostly Facebook, I’ve added time and energy to my days by eliminating the rabbit hole of scrolling and comparisons. Age Buoyantly is focused on connections built simply: through newsletters and through relationships with other women. As John Muir said, “When one tugs on a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” Without the noise of social media, Off the Grid is helping me focus clearly on the thread of life that runs through our ‘60s and beyond.
• Linkedin
I’m not very active on Linkedin, so I don’t have much to say. Stay tuned as I learn more about it!
• Soul Camp
When I decided to rebuild my coaching business to support fellow women navigating our final phase of life, I turned to Soul Camp for help. And voilà! That’s the moment Age Buoyantly was born. Hip hip hooray! Whoopee! And thanks! to Michelle Garside, Soul Camp’s branding genius, who in less than two-hours, with my dreams and ideas spilling like rain from a cloud, suggested two simple words that expressed with precision what I’d envisioned but hadn’t been able to bring into focus.
• Squarespace
Squarespace is where my webside was built and where it resides. I don’t know a whole lot about the back-of-the-house parts of this, but I do know that it is easy to use and modify.
• Stripe
Still learning about Stripe, which essentially is an online payment system needed for online purchases. Not only do you pay to use Stripe, but then they also make claim to a small portion of each sale.
• Zoom
I use it for individual coaching sessions, Practice Circles, and sometimes for teaching classes, even for getting together with friends. It coordinates with my calendar system when I set it up that way.
• Cognigo Forms
If you Schedule a Strategy Session, you’ll get a link to the Buoyant Life Audit that was built on Cognito.
• fiverr
Since I’m a one-woman band, I sometimes need tech help getting things done. Fiverr is a web-based gig business where specialists around the world can be hired to do all sorts of tasks at reasonable prices.
