Activism

As a feminist, mother, and human being, I am deeply concerned about the rapid changes affecting our country and its residents. This category focuses on themes of truth, dignity, democracy, mutual respect, rule of law, and always ALWAYS with an eye for human kindness and decency.

Courier News
“COURIER is a pro-democracy news network that builds a more informed, engaged, and representative America by reaching audiences where they are online with factual, values-driven news and analysis.”

Democracy Now
“Democracy Now! produces a daily, global, independent news hour hosted by award-winning journalists Amy Goodman and Juan González. Our reporting includes breaking daily news headlines and in-depth interviews with people on the front lines of the world’s most pressing issues. On Democracy Now!, you’ll hear a diversity of voices speaking for themselves, providing a unique and sometimes provocative perspective on global events.”

The Ezra Klein Show (podcast)
This podcast focuses on policy ideas, cultural trends, and intellectual debates rather than day-to-day political news. He has a particular interest in exploring "big ideas" about how society works and could work differently.

Hopium Chronicles (Simon Rosenberg)
Simon Rosenberg founded this organization in 2023 for this reason: “I am calling it Hopium Chronicles because I want this to be a journey guided by hope and optimism, of belief in ourselves, in love of country and a clear understanding of the nature of the conflict we are in.” Both free and paid levels are available. Paid member get access to a weekly discussion and Q&A with Rosenberg.

Indivisible
Local Indivisible groups build and wield power in ways that individuals can’t. To create change, you need the collective constituent power that comes with working together, as Indivisibles.

Letters from an American (Heather Cox Richardson)
American historian, professor, and activist, Heather Cox Richardson, has been writing these letters since the pandamic. These are dense accounts of the news from a historical perspective. She says, “I write these letters with an eye to what a graduate student will need to know in 150 years.” The day after they are published, an audio of her reading the previous day’s letter is available free from her substack account.

Markers for Democracy
“MARKERS FOR DEMOCRACY is dedicated to building and maintaining an inclusive and educated grassroots community focused on saving American democracy. We achieve this through daily engagement in postcard writing and other forms of activism to promote the election of Democrats up and down the ballot all over the country. “

Pod Save America: (podcast and more)
“Pod Save America is a no-bullshit conversation about politics hosted by former Obama aides Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor. It cuts through the noise to break down the week’s news and helps people figure out what matters and how they can help. They’re regularly joined by journalists, activists, politicians, entertainers, and world leaders. You can watch on YouTube or listen to new episodes every Tuesday and Friday.”

The Political Girl Podcast: also on Apple and other podcast places. “Working to save democracy through a no-nonsense, everywoman approach to understanding politics.”
